BREAKING: EFCC re-arrests Fani-Kayode

Ramon Oladimeji The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission has re-arrested a former Minister of Aviation, Femi Fani-Kayode. Fani-Kayode was re-arrested by operatives of the anti-graft about 1.55pm outside the premises of a Federal High Court on Oyinkan Abayomi Drive, Ikoyi, Lagos. Fani-Kayode, who was in court for his trial over an alleged fraud of ‎N4.9bn, was re-arrested shortly after he stepped out of the court premises. Tears as freed 21 Chibok girls meet VP Osinbajo

There were strong indications on Thursday that the Federal Government freed some top Boko Haram commanders for the 21 Chibok girls, who were released by the insurgents at Banki, a border town between Nigeria and Cameroon. The released girls were among the over 200 schoolgirls, who were kidnapped by Boko Haram terrorists from the Government Secondary School, Chibok, Borno State, on April 14, 2014. Most of the girls wept profusely when Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo met them on Thursday at the Abuja headquarters of the Department of State Services after the girls’ arrival in the Federal Capital Territory. The 21 girls were released after 913 days in captivity. A security source said five Boko Haram commanders were released in exchange for the 21 Chibok girls. FG RELAXES CONDITION FOR N220BN MSME FUND

The Federal Government has slashed the collateral requirement introduced by the Central Bank of Nigeria for banks to access the N220bn intervention fund for the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises sector from 75 per cent to 50 per cent. The decision was taken at the second meeting of the National Council on MSMEs presided over by Vice President Namadi Sambo at the Presidential Villa, Abuja on Tuesday. Before the downward review, part of the conditions for banks to access the N220bn fund was the need for them to collaterise whatever amount they were applying for from the CBN to the tune of 75 per cent. The Minister of Industry, Trade and Investment, Mr. Olusegun Aganga, announced the decision at a press briefing held at the end of the meeting.
