  Abuja— President Muhammadu Buhari explained, yesterday, that he was yet to appoint his ministers because his predecessor’s transition committee submitted its report on the previous administration to him late. Buhari, who spoke to newsmen at the Summit of the African Union in Johannesburg, South Africa, said he was being careful in order not to make mistakes in appointing individuals especially to key positions such as in the finance and petroleum ministries. His words: “I don’t know why people are so anxious about ministers. But eventually we will have (them). NNPC Has Too Many Bank Accounts & Corporation Has Lost Track Of Them – Buhari Reveals

According to a report by PM News , President Muhammadu Buhari stated today at the African Union (AU) summit, that the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) has too many bank accounts, and as a result, either the Ministry of Finance or the corporation have lost track of them. Buhari is said to have expressed shock about the development, describing it as “improper.” The report further states: As petroleum minister during the Olusegun Obasanjo military regime,(1976-1979) Buhari said NNPC had only three accounts, in contrast to what the Jonathan government bequeathed: “too many accounts such that the NNPC and the ministry of finance did not know how many accounts they had.”  

My Regret As INEC Chairman – Prof. Jega

The Chairman, Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Prof. Attahiru Jega, on Monday reviewed his tenure as the boss of the electoral body and concluded that his only regret was that he was unable to create a separate salary structure for INEC workers. Jega spoke in Abuja during a retreat titled, “2015 general elections: Lessons and the way forward.” which was organised for the electoral officers of the commission where the report of the 2015 elections was reviewed. He said apart from the special salary issue, the commission under his leadership performed well. He said, “We have done our best as a commission under very difficult circumstances and the major regret as I have always acknowledged is that a major undertaking we made when we first resumed at the commission is to have a separate salary structure for the members of staff of the commission but we have not been able to achieve this “And obviously this is one area where we still have to do a lot of work
